BBC Shakespeare Archive Resource.

Collection of programmes and photographs from the BBC's Shakespeare archive. It includes Shakespeare’s plays, poems and sonnets, documentaries, interviews and over a thousand stills of classic Shakespeare productions, as well as entertainment programmes referencing Shakespeare.
In order to play the programmes or see the photos you will need to prove you are part of Oxford Brookes University, using the authentication box which appears once you attempt to play media on the site.

Henry Stewart talks - the Biomedical & life sciences collection.

A collection of animated, seminar style talks by leading world experts on all aspects of biomedical and life sciences. The talks can be searched as a whole but are arranged into series such as Apoptosis, Cancer, Epidemiology, Human Genetics, Obesity, Retroviruses, Stem Cells etc for focussed browsing. There are around 1000 talks, which vary in length from about 20 minutes to an hour. The collection will be regularly expanded and updated as new series and talks are added.

Box of broadcasts (Media archive service)
BoB

Box of Broadcasts (BoB) is an off-air recording and media archive service. BoB stores recorded TV and Radio programmes in an archive for all users to enjoy. The archive currently offers over 45,000 TV and radio programmes covering all genres. Users can record programmes, watch programmes from the archive, create clips, search for programmes coming up in the next seven days by title or keyword, compile their favourite shows into playlists and share these with others.

On the BoB homepage, click on the blue Log in button, then type “Oxford Brookes University” in the search box and select from the drop down list.

If you are prompted to login when you’re searching BoB, just click on the option ‘Log in using your Oxford Brookes University account’ to proceed.

Bridgeman Education provides art historical images useful for a wide range of subjects including art, history, geography, architecture, literature, science, religion, and anthropology. Bridgeman Education images are available for educational purposes to Brookes students and staff. The images may be viewed, printed or downloaded for reproduction in coursework, for classroom presentation, or into WebCT. Any images downloaded from Bridgeman Education should be credited with the wording ‘Copyright The Bridgeman Art Library – London, New York, Paris’. Images are only available for educational and research purposes and may not be made public. They should not be made available on the internet or used for publication or lectures outside Brookes.

British architecture.
Books and journals held in the British Architectural Library, RIBA - book and periodical collections. Includes the Architectural Publications Index (API) , which is an index of architecture journal articles and papers.

British Cartoon Archive (Cartoons and documents)

The British Cartoon Archive provides access to a wide range of cartoon artwork covering a variety of topics. The collection dates back to 1904. Images can be used by Brookes students and staff for educational purposes.
Note: First-time users will need to register using the link. To download images please first run a search. After searching, click on 'Use this image', select 'non-commercial educational context in the UK' (if appropriate), pick Brookes from the list of institutions and read and agree to the terms and conditions before proceeding. Please login with your Brookes username and password. You will then be presented with the option to download the image.

An archive of hundreds of full text periodicals from the late seventeenth century to the early twentieth. The database consists of two collections: British Periodicals Collection I includes more than 160 journals covering the fields of literature, philosophy, history, science, the fine arts and the social sciences. British Periodicals Collection II contains more than 300 journals including titles in the fields of literature, music, art, drama, archaeology and architecture. A wide array of different types of periodical are represented, from magisterial quarterlies and scholarly and professional organs through to coterie art periodicals, penny weeklies and illustrated family magazines.

17th-18th century Burney Collection newspapers.
Seventeenth-eighteenth century Burney Collection newspapers

The newspapers and news pamphlets, gathered by the Reverend Charles Burney (1757-1817), represent the largest single collection of 17th and 18th century English news media available from the British Library. The collection, approximately 1,270 titles, includes pamphlets, proclamations, newsbooks and newspapers published in England, Ireland and Scotland, plus a selection of papers from British colonies in the Americas and Asia. Newspapers include the London Chronicle, the London Morning Penny Post and the British Chronicle.
